Basin Electric welcomes 10 members into cooperative

Basin Electric welcomed 10 electric cooperatives as members on June 14.

According to Mark Foss, Basin Electric senior vice president and general counsel, the electric cooperatives were previously members of Basin Electric and applied to join the membership again. Members of the Basin Electric board of directors authorized a resolution to accept the applications during their June board meeting. Because Basin Electric is a three-tier system, these cooperatives are Class C members that are also members of Basin Electric Class A member Tri-State G&T, headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

“Basin Electric is proud to welcome these members back into the cooperative family and continue to provide them with the value that comes with our membership, including strategic planning, communications services, and more,” said Foss. “We serve 141 members across a nine-state service territory, and are committed to providing reliable, affordable, and responsible electricity to rural America.”

Directors authorized the following 10 members as members of Basin Electric: Roosevelt Public Power District of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Wyrulec Company of Torrington, Wyoming; San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative of Monte Vista, Colorado; Gunnison County Electric Cooperative Association, Inc. of Gunnison, Colorado; Sangre de Cristo Electric Association, Inc. of Buena Vista, Colorado; Sierra Electric Cooperative of Elephant Butte, New Mexico; Northern Rio Arriba Electric Cooperative, Inc. of Chama, New Mexico; Springer Electric Cooperative, Inc. of Springer, New Mexico; Southeast Colorado Power Association of La Junta, Colorado; and Southwestern Electric Cooperative, Inc., of Clayton, New Mexico.
