Antelope Valley Station to Neset Transmission Project
Basin Electric has identified the need for additional electric transmission capacity in northwestern North Dakota as a result of increased demand, and to meet reliability and system stability requirements for the region. Investigations and analyses conducted for the overall power delivery systems found that without improvements, the flow of power along existing lines may result in local line overloads, especially in the vicinity of Williston, ND.
To resolve these issues, Basin Electric will construct, own and operate a new 345-kV transmission line and associated supporting infrastructure. The entire project will consist of constructing approximately 200 miles of new single circuit 345-kV and double circuit 345/115-kV transmission lines, the construction of two new substations, modifications to three existing substations, river crossings, temporary construction staging sites, and other facilities.
The Project would connect to the Integrated System at several locations, including Western Area Power Administration's Williston Substation.
The proposed project would be located in portions of Dunn, McKenzie, Mercer, Mountrail, and Williams counties in western North Dakota.

North Killdeer Loop Project
On Nov. 12, Basin Electric filed its application for a consolidated certificate of corridor compatibility and route permit with the North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) regarding the cooperative’s proposed Phase I of the North Killdeer Loop Project.
Phase I of the project involves about 28 miles of new 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and construction of two new 345/115-kV substations: Patent Gate and Kummer Ridge.
A siting application for Phase II of the project, which will consist of interconnecting the Roundup and Kummer Ridge Substations by a 32-mile long 345-kV transmission line, is planned to be submitted in 2015.
The entire project includes approximately 60 miles of 345-kV transmission line and three substations that will deliver power into member cooperative McKenzie Electric Cooperative’s service territory.
The North Killdeer Loop is scheduled to be operational in late 2016.
The project is an addition to the Antelope Valley Station (AVS) to Neset Transmission Project.
