Dwight Rossow has been elected to serve on the Basin Electric Board of Directors beginning May 1, 2026. He will represent District 7, Rushmore Power Electric Cooperative, located in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Rossow is president of the Cam Wal Electric Cooperative board, a Basin Electric Class C member located in Selby, South Dakota. Raised on a farm and ranch spanning four generations, he is firmly anchored in rural life; his dedication to the cooperative system reflects decades of commitment to member ownership, common‑sense governance, and putting people first.

When asked about his motivation, he downplays any sense of ambition. Instead, his guiding principle remains simple and direct: common sense. “Don’t look out for your personal interest,” he said. “Look at what’s best for the members.” He believes that when decisions are grounded in that mindset, leadership becomes clearer even when the issues are complex.

“Dwight will be a great asset to the Basin Electric Board of Directors,” Wayne Peltier, board president, said. “He brings over 30 years of cooperative experience to the table, along with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our industry.

Dedication to the position, thoughtful decision making, and keeping member interests at the center of every discussion will be Rossow’s focus as he takes his place on the Basin Electric board.
