Basin Electric and its subsidiary Dakota Gasification Company will host an open house to educate the public on the Great Plains CO2 Sequestration Project on March 9 from 6-8 p.m. Central time at the Beulah (North Dakota) Civic Center.
Scientists from Carbon Vault (the company that will construct and operate the injection wells) and the Energy & Environmental Research Center will join Dakota Gas and Basin Electric personnel to provide information on the project, its current activities, and why the geology in western North Dakota is well suited for the underground storage of carbon dioxide (CO2). A presentation by the project team will begin at 6:30 p.m., with time reserved at its conclusion for small group and one-on-one conversations.
Tyler Schilke, Basin Electric mechanical engineering supervisor and the project’s coordinator said, “The Great Plains CO2 Sequestration project is an innovative project that will benefit the environment by sequestering and permanently storing CO2 from Dakota Gas’ Great Plains Synfuels Plant.”
