Dakota Gasification Company receives award from BNSF Railway

Dakota Gasification Company recently received a safety award from BNSF Railway, one of America's leading freight transportation companies, with a rail network of 32,500 route miles in 28 states and three Canadian provinces.

The Product Stewardship Award is given annually by BNSF Railway to honor customers for the safe transportation of hazardous materials by rail. The award emphasizes to the public and the chemical industry how important proper inspection, maintenance, loading, and securement is to the safety of employees, the public, and the environment.

The award recognizes shippers who move over 500 loads of hazardous shipments on BNSF Railway without a non-accident release. All shippers will receive national recognition of their achievement through press releases and advertisements in appropriate trade journals.

Safety is a top priority at Basin Electric and Dakota Gas.

"Safety and quality are very important at Dakota Gas and this award is a reflection of the efforts of many people," said Aaron Marquardt, manager of the fertilizer section at Dakota Gas. "A continuous improvement mindset, great support teams, and procedures and checklists are used to ensure that not only are the products secured for shipment, but the rail cars are also maintained and safe to travel across the country."
