In June, the Basin Electric Board of Directors traveled to Billings, Montana, where Central Montana Electric Power Cooperative, a Basin Electric Class A member, hosted the annual joint board meeting. Joint board meetings allow the board of directors to meet with members at the local level and provide insight into members’ needs. At the same time, they allow members the opportunity to learn about issues Basin Electric deals with outside of their membership.
Wayne Peltier, Basin Electric board president, welcomed everyone to the meeting, followed by Todd Brickhouse, Basin Electric CEO and general manager, who provided an overview of Basin Electric and the cooperative’s strategic focus on rate affordability, member partnerships, and transparency. The meeting continued with a financial update given by Chris Johnson, Basin Electric senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Central Montana’s Board President Russ Bloom and General Manager Jim Sands shared an overview of their cooperative, followed by an open forum and discussion.
“The Central Montana Electric Power Cooperative team regularly collaborates on a wide range of topics,” Brickhouse said. “It was valuable to bring our teams and board members together for an in-person series of meetings where we could connect both professionally and personally. Central Montana was a gracious host, and we deeply appreciate the hospitality they extended throughout our time together.”
After the meeting, the boards and staff toured Pacific Recycling. The facility buys, processes, and resells scrap metals and other recyclable materials while promoting environmental sustainability. The tour was followed by a social and dinner at TEN, located inside the historic Northern Hotel.
