Basin Electric CEO named chairman of Lignite Energy Council Board of Directors

On Jan. 1, 2026, Todd Brickhouse, CEO and general manager of Basin Electric, assumed the role of chairman of the Lignite Energy Council (LEC) Board of Directors. Brickhouse was previously elected to the position of chairman-elect during the LEC Board of Directors meeting on Nov. 12, 2025. 

The LEC is governed by a 26-member board of directors. The directors represent the major producers and users of lignite coal, research members, reserve holders, and major members in three categories, along with contractor/supplier members.  

During his two-year term, Brickhouse will provide strategic leadership and oversight, helping guide the association’s operations and advance its long-term initiatives. 

“I’m honored to serve as chairman of the Lignite Energy Council,” Brickhouse said. “The Council plays an important role in bringing industry voices together, and I look forward to working with the board, members, and stakeholders in support of the communities we serve.”
