Reliable cooperative electricity powers the ethanol industry

Louis Reed and his wife Terri farm near Castana, Iowa, and are members of Basin Electric Class C member Western Iowa Power Cooperative (WIPCO) in Denison, Iowa. Louis serves on WIPCO’s board and also as board chair at Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative, a Basin Electric Class A member in Le Mars.

We visited them to learn about how the ethanol industry has grown thanks in large part to the reliable, affordable, and responsible electricity delivered across rural America by electric cooperatives. 

Meeting in a corn field on a beautiful October evening, we were gifted with sunlight that makes for a cover-worthy photo. We only have room for a photo or two in our annual report, but wanted to share a couple more here, specifically the ones that convey just how tall that Iowa corn can grow.
