Basin Electric holiday treats help neighbors stay warm and full

Basin Electric employees raised money for community members who are homeless or facing homelessness by purchasing holiday treat trays. All of the treats on the trays were baked and assembled at Basin Electric's Headquarters, and the $800 that was raised was used for "Blessing Bags." The bags included a McDonald's gift card for a warm meal, hand warmers, hats, face masks, blankets, a granola bar, and thermal socks, and will be distributed by Heaven's Helpers Soup Cafe in Bismarck, North Dakota.

"There are a lot of people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet," says Basin Electric food services coordinator Tina Wetzel who coordinated the baking and distribution of the treat trays. "This was one way we could help get them some essentials for the cold season. Plus, it made holiday gatherings easy for our employees because we did the baking for them in advance."
