Basin Electric employees give Christmas cheer to 176 children

Basin Electric employees made the holidays a little brighter this year. A total of 176 children received a gift because their name was placed on an “angel tree” at one of six Basin Electric locations: Antelope Valley Station in Beulah, North Dakota; Transmission System Maintenance - BeulahDry Fork Station in Gillette, Wyoming; Headquarters in Bismarck, North Dakota; Laramie River Station in Wheatland, Wyoming; and Leland Olds Station in Stanton, North Dakota.

Organizations that benefited include Burleigh County Social Services (Bismarck); Morton County Social Services (Mandan, North Dakota); The Salvation Army (Bismarck); Women’s Action and Resource Center (Beulah); Wyoming Department of Family Services, and Child Protection Services - Southeast Wyoming.

"Our social workers work closely with the kids and know what they need the most. We're very appreciative that Basin is helping us give them the things they need, especially because for some of them, these will be the only Christmas gifts they get," says Sharon Dockter, Burleigh County Social Services.

Many of Basin Electric's facilities also provided holiday meals for families in need and collected food for local food pantries.

In addition, the Information Systems and Telecommunications team at Headquarters organized a donation tree to collect hats, snow pants, jackets, and other winter wear. The items are being distributed through Carrie’s Kids, a volunteer ministry that works to create a safe and learning environment for children and teens.

“Each of our locations did their donations a little differently, but one thing that is consistent is the dedication we all share to the communities we serve,” says Jennifer Holen, Basin Electric charitable giving coordinator. “I think our employees really enjoy shopping for the kids and families because it embodies the spirit of the giving season.”
