The last Basin’s Backyard Garden #Homegrown donation of 2022 added about 28.7 lbs. of local, fresh food to local food pantries’ offerings.

On Oct. 19, gardeners donated apples, onions, squash, zucchini, and tomatoes to Community Action Program Region VII's food pantry.

This donation brings Basin’s Backyard Garden #Homegrown's grand total for the year to 860 lbs. of fresh, mostly local food donated this year. You may remember, we started the year adding grocery store and farmers market goods to our donations to get employees on board with the #HomeGrown garden schedule.

Since 2014, Basin’s Backyard Garden has donated 5,256 lbs. of fresh, mostly local food to local food pantries through the Hunger Free North Dakota program.

Fresh local vegetables are not donated to food pantries very often, and the Hunger Free North Dakota program has done a great job over the years of making sure North Dakota summers are different.
