- U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp will host EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant.
- McCarthy will participate in a roundtable discussion with U.S. Senators Heitkamp and Hoeven, U.S. Rep. Cramer, Commissioner Kalk, and representatives from Basin Electric, Minnkota Power Co-op, Great River Energy, The Coteau Properties Company, North American Coal Corporation, IBEW, MDU Resources Group, Otter Tail Power Company, North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Co-ops and Lignite Energy Council.
- Discussion will focus on EPA’s proposed regulations for greenhouse gases, with special attention to Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act. Section 111(d) calls for regulation of carbon dioxide emitted from existing power plants.
- Following the roundtable discussion, Administrator McCarthy will visit a scale model of the Great Plains Synfuels Plant and will be available for press inquiries and photographs until 2:45 CST.
