Last May the local chapter of Young Professionals (YP) Network notified Basin Electric that it was selected as one of the Top 10 Places to Work in the Bismarck-Mandan area.
On Sept. 12, two YP ambassadors, Joe Fink and Molly Sullivan, presented the award to Basin Electric CEO and General Manager Ron Harper and the board of directors at their monthly meeting.
Sharon Klein, Basin Electric manager of human resources at Headquarters, said the cooperative applied for the award on a few occasions. “However, this was the first year we were selected,” she said.
According to Klein, the award is based on judging criteria that include a review of a company’s benefits packages, quality of work, career development, outreach into community service projects, and programs for training and educating younger employees.
“There are many excellent benefits Basin offers to employees,” Klein said. “When employees come on board, they all receive an orientation packet including information about the YP Network. As a partner, we receive several free memberships and can post our job openings on their site. Basin Electric is very proactive in helping new and younger employees succeed.”
The mission of YP Network is to enhance the social, professional, cultural, and service opportunities for young professionals in the Bismarck-Mandan area. YP ambassadors like Fink and Sullivan focus on welcoming new YPs and connecting them to the community.
