The 2012 Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute (RMCMI) scholarship applications are now available online. Scholarship criteria and application forms can be found on the RMCMI website (www.rmcmi.org). Click on the "Scholarships" link on the toolbar at the top of the homepage, then click on "Apply for Scholarships."
The Engineering Scholarship award is $5,000 ($2,500 per year for two years) and is available to students at a four-year school entering their junior or senior year. The applicant must have an interest in western coal and be pursuing a degree in a mining-related field or certain engineering disciplines. The engineering scholarship winners will be offered an all-expense-paid trip to attend the annual RMCMI convention in June 2012.
The Technical School Scholarship (any accredited school) is $1,000 (one year for tuition credit).
Applicants must be a resident of one of the RMCMI eight member states (AZ, CO, MT, NM, ND, TX, UT, WY). The scholarship application process is open and must be received at RMCMI by Feb. 1, 2012.
