Harper said his management style has always been centered on MBWA (management by walking around), learning about an organization and communicating as much as possible.

Ron Harper, Basin Electric CEO and general manager, will start his last scheduled all-employee communications sessions next week prior to his retirement at year end.

Efforts at good communication to employees and member systems have been one of the hallmarks of his tenure at Basin Electric.

Part of that effort has been twice-a-year meetings with employees throughout the organization’s sites. He said that involves both a give and take – listening to employee concerns and sharing an overview of what is happening to the business.

Harper said his management style has always been centered on MBWA (management by walking around), learning about an organization and communicating as much as possible. You don’t fully understand your organization “if you’re just sitting behind a desk,” he said.

Employees can find the employee communication session schedule on Inside Basin.
