Basin Electric is exploring the construction of a new 345-kilovolt transmission line in western North Dakota. The 190-mile line would go from the Antelope Valley Station north of Beulah, northwest to Williston, then east to Tioga. Also included in the proposed project scope are two new substations, modifications to four existing substations, a high-voltage switchyard, and necessary construction roads and staging areas.
An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being conducted. The Rural Utilities Service (RUS) is the lead federal agency in conducting the study. RUS will hold public scoping meetings to share information and receive comments and suggestions on the scope of the EIS in areas near and affected by the proposed project.
Open-house public scoping meetings will be held on Nov. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. Central Time at the Ernie French Center, North Dakota State University Williston Research Extension office, 14120 Highway 2, Williston; and on Nov. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. Mountain Time at the at the American Legion Hall Post 46, 42 Central Avenue, Killdeer.
Comments regarding the project may be submitted in writing at the public scoping meeting or mailed to the RUS. Mailed comments must be postmarked no later than midnight on Dec. 2.
