Great Plains Synfuels Plant Manager Dave Sauer announced that Dakota Gas is reorganizing and consolidating the operation of the synthetic natural gas (SNG) and carbon dioxide (CO2) pipelines. Sauer said the change is necessary to focus efforts on growing regulatory requirements and to maintain proper surveillance of the pipelines through the high activity areas in western North Dakota.
Claude O’Berry, Synfuels Plant shift superintendent, was named superintendent of the pipeline section and will report to Dale Johnson, process operations manager. Randy Heitz, chemical production shift supervisor, and Dave Knoll, utilities shift supervisor, will perform the supervisory duties for this section. Heitz will focus on the field operation of the pipelines, while Knoll will focus on the regulatory requirements. The Souris Valley Pipeline contract will also be administered by this group. The existing pipeline field technicians will be assigned to the pipeline section.
The pipeline support groups, such as engineering, maintenance and planning, will continue to support the pipeline in their current roles. “As O’Berry develops this section, we will look for opportunities to optimize these supporting roles,” Sauer said.
The change is effective June 25.
