The North Dakota Coordinating Council for Cooperatives is hosting a special event honoring U.S. Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) Dec. 7 in Mandan, ND.
Conrad will be retiring this year from the U.S. Senate after more than two decades of serving the people of North Dakota. He's been a champion of rural communities and supporter of electric cooperatives.
Last year, Conrad testified at a public hearing pushing back against the Environmental Protection Agency's proposal to overrule North Dakota's efforts to reduce regional haze.
For his efforts, Conrad was the recipient of Basin Electric’s 2012 Cornerstone Award, the highest award given to acknowledge individuals for their work in support of electric cooperatives and rural America.
