The directors of Basin Electric and its subsidiaries elected board officers at their reorganization meetings held this month. The officers are nominated and elected for one-year terms by the directors.
For Basin Electric, Roy Ireland, Martin, SD, was elected president. He's been a Basin Electric director since 1996, representing Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative, Rapid City, SD. He succeeds Cliff Gjellstad who will be retiring in June 2012.
Wayne Peltier, Cottonwood, MN, was elected vice president. He's been a director since 2008 and represents the cooperative members of District 9.
Kermit Pearson, Lake City, SD, was re-elected secretary-treasurer for an 11th term. He represents East River Electric Power Cooperative, Madison, SD, and has been a Basin Electric director since 1997.
Gary Drost, Luverne, MN, was re-elected assistant secretary. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 1999 and represents L&O Power Cooperative in Rock Rapids, IA.
For Dakota Coal Company, Reuben Ritthaler, was re-elected chairman of this subsidiary. He lives in Upton, WY, and represents Powder River Energy Corporation on the Basin Electric board. Dean McCabe, was re-elected vice chairman; McCabe is from Circle, MT, and represents Upper Missouri G&T on the Basin Electric board. Roberta Rohrer was elected treasurer of Dakota Coal. She is from Conrad, MT, and represents Central Montana Electric Cooperative on the Basin Electric board. The officers and directors for Dakota Coal are the same for Montana Limestone Company, a subsidiary of Dakota Coal. The only exception is that Wayne Peltier was elected treasurer of Montana Limestone Company.
For Dakota Gasification Company, Don Applegate was re-elected chairman of the Dakota Gas board. Applegate is from Oakland, IA, and represents Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative in LeMars. He's been a Basin Electric director since 1997. Gary Drost was elected vice chairman; and Wayne Child was elected treasurer. Child is from Cheyenne, WY, and represents Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Denver, CO. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 1985.
