Thousands of students hear the Story Behind the Switch in 2009
“It’s the story about how electricity is made, how it gets to your house, and how to be safe around it. It’s an important safety presentation, but the hands-on experiments are what really capture the students’ attention”
Basin Electric Power Cooperative - March 1, 2010
Basin Electric’s Story Behind the Switch is no secret.
The story about electricity was brought to 12,000 students in 2009 across North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming.
More than 200 presentations shocked audiences in 2009. “It’s the story about how electricity is made, how it gets to your house, and how to be safe around it. It’s an important safety presentation, but the hands-on experiments are what really capture the students’ attention,” said Tracy Fugere, demonstration coordinator.
There’s no slowing down the program in 2010. The number of presentations and audience sizes are expected to increase. In March, the Story Behind the Switch is heading to New Mexico. It will be Fugere’s first trip to the southwest state since she started in the position in July of 2008.
