PrairieWinds ND 1 projects to be dedicated
Tours of one of the PrairieWinds ND 1 wind towers will be available, along with a walking tour of a wind turbine blade that’s resting on site.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative - June 10, 2010
The largest wind project owned solely by a cooperative is set to be dedicated next week. The ceremony for Basin Electric’s PrairieWinds ND 1 projects, all 80 turbines, will be held June 17 at 2:30 p.m. about 15 miles south of Minot, ND, in the operations and maintenance building, three miles south and two miles east of the junction of U.S. Hwy 83 and N.D. Hwy 23.
North Dakota Governor John Hoeven and representatives from Basin Electric, Verendrye Electric and Ward County are scheduled to provide remarks during the ceremony. Following the program, tours of one of the wind towers will be available, along with a walking tour of a wind turbine blade that’s resting on site. Coffee and cake will be served.
Construction started on the project in August 2009 and the turbines began commercial operation in the remaining hours of 2009.
