Over 400 workers at Deer Creek Station donated over $3,000 toward local community charities at their November and December Worker Safety Luncheons. Those funds were matched by Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Oscar J. Boldt Construction, AZCO, and Van Ert Electric Company. Also making partial matching funds were East River Electric Power Company and Sioux Valley Energy.
In total, more than $18,000 was donated to local charities. “It all starts with the construction workers,” said Curt Pearson, project coordination representative for Basin Electric Power Cooperative. “The dollars are being multiplied by a group of companies and cooperatives backing the worker’s Local organizations receive donations from Deer Creek Station Matching funds from other businesses also included intentions. It is very much a community effort.”
Maureen McCormick, office manager for Boldt Construction, said that the acts of generosity from the construction workers are not uncommon. “It is nice to offer this to the communities,” she said.
Local charities that were given donations were the White Community Club ($2,000), White Fire Department ($1,000), Deubrook Community Library ($750) and Deubrook Honor Society ($300). Keep reading the full story online.
