Basin recognized for Baldrick'sIt's slowly becoming a holiday all of its own. St. Baldrick's Day. The day when hundreds shave their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Basin Electric drew in 200 volunteers and raised $124,000 through the event last March. This week Basin was recognized for all its hard work. The Power Cooperative has been named a finalist for a Philanthropy Communication award through PR News. Also in the running for the award, globally recognized businesses, such as Aflac, eBay and Hasbro.
"To be recognized for efforts for an event we are so passionate about just really made our year," says Communications Supervisior Mary Klecker-Green, "We're still buzzing around with excitement. And whether we get the award or not, just to be recognized as a finalist is wonderful and we just couldn't be happier."
Basin will host St. Baldrick's again this March and is hoping to sign up more teams, and find more people willing to shave their heads for a good cause. To find out more information about the event or how to get involved visit
