Basin Electric partnered with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Cooperative Research Network (CRN) and the state of North Dakota to convert one of its Ford Escapes into a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) - to use electricity as fuel. A live conversion by Hymotion was presented at the North Dakota Great Plains Energy Expo held in October 2007.
