Bismarck Bridge

Bismarck-Mandan, ND

Basin Electric Headquarters is located in Bismarck, and of one of our transmission system maintenance offices is located in Mandan. Dakota Coal Company and Dakota Gasification Company administrative offices are also at Headquarters. Our facilities are located in rural communities where a strong work ethic and Midwestern values thrive.

Bismarck is North Dakota's capital city. Home to more than 70,000 people, the Bismarck-Mandan area offers rural serenity with all the amenities of a city setting. Recreational activities are abundant, featuring some of the best fishing and hunting opportunities in North America. Other attractions include golf courses, bicycle trails, a community symphony and theater, cross-country ski trails, art galleries, museums and the Dakota Zoo.

Bismarck has an excellent public school system, several private schools, a two-year state college and a private four-year university.

Nestled on the banks of the Missouri River, the region is rich in history. The Lewis & Clark Expedition spent its first winter just 40 miles north of Bismarck.

Ft. Abraham Lincoln, six miles south of Mandan, ND, was the home to Gen. George Custer and the Seventh Calvary before its fateful march to the Battle of the Little Big Horn.

Beulah-Hazen, ND

Beulah and Hazen, located just 70 miles northwest from Bismarck, present an assortment of activities and services for residents.

Beulah welcome sign

The two towns, located 10 miles apart, are minutes from Dakota Gasification Co., Leland Olds Station and Antelope Valley Station. Beulah is also home to a Transmission System Maintenance office.

With a combined population near 6,000, the Beulah-Hazen area offers a variety of cultural, educational and recreational activities. Water sports and fishing are less than 30 minutes away at Lake Sakakawea, and Bismarck is a short trip down the highway for shopping and commercial airline access.

Nestled at the confluence of the Knife and Missouri Rivers, Stanton offers a tranquil lifestyle and a strong sense of community. The Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site north of town adds a flavor of Native American culture. Stanton is just four miles from the Leland Olds Station.

Gillette, WY

Dry Fork Station, Basin Electric's newest baseload power plant, is located 7 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming. Nearby are the Big Horn mountains, the Black Hills National Forest, and Devil's Tower in addition to hunting, fishing, rodeos, gun and car shows, and recreation areas. Gillette has an historic downtown area, a Planetarium, Rockpile Museum, Wright Museum, and Science Center/Adventuriarium.

Wheatland, WY

Welcome to Wyoming

The three units of the Laramie River Station are seven miles from Wheatland.

There are three major reservoirs in the Wheatland area. These reservoirs provide residents with an abundance of fishing, swimming, sailing and water sports. The Wheatland/Platte County area is near Glendo State Park, Guernsey State Park, Devil's Tower and the Black Hills.
