In appreciation for that support, Basin Electric expresses its cooperative spirit by extending a helping hand to our members and communities by donating time and funds to educational, charitable, fine arts and medical organizations.
Employees also give of their time and talents through volunteer service and financial support. The cooperative ideal means working together to benefit the needs and requirements of all cooperative members.
We are giving back to our communities through various activities that are based on three important values:

Basin Electric is a Touchstone Energy® Cooperative. Part of this committment is providing and supporting member programs. Additionally, Basin Electric and several of its member systems join with Touchstone Energy® is sponsoring major events like the Norsk Hostfest as well as the Burning Hills Singers of the Medora Musical.
Basin Electric and its employees do a great deal to help those in need through support of events like St. Baldrick's Day and functions held by the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way. Both foundations have a large impact on the lives of those they touch with helping hands.

Educating our nation's youth is also important to the cooperative as young people comprise the workforce of the future. With growing demands on the energy industry expanding the amount and type of work required by energy field professionals, Basin Electric is stepping up to the plate to help provide energy related education opportunities. In an effort to do so, Basin Electric made the lead pledge of $2 million toward the National Energy Center of Excellence.
